The link between good senior nutrition and physical, as well as mental health, has been demonstrated by a variety of studies.

A study published in the Canadian Journal of Public Health in 2000 reported that poor nutrition can exacerbate the health problems of seniors who already experience age-related memory loss.

The Canadian Study of Health and Aging assessed the mental, physical and nutritional health of more than 700 men and women age 65 and over, all of them affected by memory loss. The study found that all of the subjects identified as being at nutritional risk were more likely to die over a subsequent five-year period than those identified as being in better nutritional condition.
